Meet Our Staff
My name is Dr. Tim Fouts. I am a 1983 Turpin High School alum and 1989 graduate of the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
A native of Anderson Township, Ohio, I chose to go west after veterinary school to do an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the West Los Angeles Veterinary Medical Group. It was there I cared for pets owned by such celebrities as Joan Rivers, Sheena Easton, Greg Louganis, Ice-T, Joanna Cassidy, Robert Culp, Eva Gabor, Shelly Hack, Aaron Spelling (and his daughter, Tori) to name a few. From there I went to a busy referral practice in Monrovia, California, located in suburban L.A. County, where I gained extensive experience in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, working for six years under the late Dr. Raymond Weitkamp, an accomplished veterinary surgeon. After meeting and marrying my wife Lynn, a California native, I was able to convince her that Ohio offered a friendlier, smog-free way of life. We moved back and opened Hillside Small Animal Hospital in 1996. We now live in Loveland with our two boys, Eli and Jonah, our dog “Hogan” (pictured with the late “Maui” who passed away in August 2008) and two cats “Boo” and “Jazzmo”.
Aside from work as a veterinarian and practice-owner, I draw the most satisfaction in life from being a father. I am also an avid golfer as is my wife. Now that our boys are old enough to swing a club, on any given sunny afternoon, you might find the whole Fouts family out on the links!
My name is Dr. Emily Hopping and I am a 2003 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation, I practiced at a small animal clinic in Dayton. My husband and I decided to move to Washington in 2004 to enjoy the great outdoors before having a family. I practiced at a busy, multi-doctor small animal clinic in Anacortes, Washington for 3 years. We moved to the Cincinnati area in the fall of 2007 to be near family after the birth of our son in January 2007.
I joined Hillside Small Animal Hospital in November 2007 as a part-time associate. My specific interests include ophthalmology and dentistry. I have enjoyed the flexibility of working part-time while still being able to be a mom.
When I’m not working I can be found enjoying the outdoors at our area parks with my family. I reside in Bethel with my husband, Kelly, son, Grant, dog, ‘Siena’ (pictured) and two cats, ‘Scout’ and ‘Samish’.
My name is Heather Schaffner. I have been working at Hillside Small Animal Hospital since December, 2005. I began working as a receptionist, and then was promoted to staff manager. I am a born and bred Cincinnatian, raised in Anderson Township.
Prior to coming to Hillside I spent 9 years active duty in the United States Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician first class. I was stationed in California, Guam, and Virginia where I spent 3 ½ years as a crewmember of the USS John C. Stennis CVN 74, an aircraft carrier. Since returning home to Cincinnati I have worked for the American Red Cross and Anthem Insurance.
Working for Dr. Fouts has been great. He and I have known each other since elementary school, and graduated from Turpin High School together. I have a daughter, Skye, who is now a student at Turpin as well. We have 2 dogs (that’s “Lady” with me in the picture), 3 cats, and a rabbit
I’m Leanne Young. I have been a registered veterinary technician (RVT) at Hillside Small Animal Hospital since February 2007. Previous to working for Dr. Fouts, I had seven years’ experience at a veterinary hospital in Lebanon.
In addition to my time in animal hospitals, I have also volunteered at CircleTail, a local assistance dog training organization that is also involved in some canine rescue efforts.
My husband and I reside in Fayetteville, and have six dogs (including “Yanice”, seen here) and two cats.
My name is Michelle Patchell. I’ve been working at Hillside Small Animal Hospital since May 2006. I started as an assistant, but in September 2008, I obtained my RVT license. No I’m a full-time veterinary technician. I love my profession very much.
As you can see from picture, I’m very fond of the kitties, but dogs are up on my list as well! Tyson is the orange tabby in the picture with with me. I love him as if he were my child! I also have another cat named “Oscar” and a beagle pup named “Bo”, with a face that can make you melt.
My name is Nicole Bauknecht, and I am a veterinary assistant at Hillside Small Animal Hospital. I am currently a pre-veterinary student at U.C. Raymond Walters, and plan to be an equine veterinarian. I love to be with animals and Hillside has become like a second home to me. Working with Dr. Fouts has not only taught me a lot about the challenges of this business, but the joys as well. It is a fulfilling to know that what we do makes a difference.
My husband and I live in Goshen with our two sons, Ryan and Jacob and a dog (“Dakota”, pictured here) and a cat.
My name is Sarah McGlinchey. I have been working at Hillside Small Animal Hospital since June, 2006. In Sept. 2009, I became a registered veterinary technician (RVT). Currently, I am attending the University of Cincinnati to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology.
My family owns Casey, a Basenji, and I own many exotic pets (including “Kira” the hedgehog and “Camira” the sugar glider, both in the picture with me). My life has been focused on working with animals ever since I was a young girl and I plan to continue down that path.
My name is Stephanie Houk. I’ve been working at Hillside Small Animal Hospital as a receptionist since May, 2002. I’ve really enjoyed working here at Hillside because of the staff and our clients.
My husband Kenny and I have 2 dogs (including “Princess”, with me in the picture) and 1 cat. I also have an 11 year old daughter named Alexandra.
Hi! My name is Meredith Taylor. I am a veterinary assistant here at Hillside Small Animal Hospital. I came to this hospital in June of 2008 after working three years at a pet store, where I got my dog “Bosco” (pictured here). Currently I am attending University of Cincinnati Clermont Campus, oddly enough, for Criminal Justice. I hope to one day become a canine handler for a local police department.
I currently live with my family outside of Bethel. We own dogs, cats, horses, and several other small animals. I have always grown up with animals, which explains my love for them.
“Animals are such agreeable friends — they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms.”
-George Eliot
